beeping noise

Computer running with XP often has a random beeping noise of different pitch
about fourbeeps in quick succession, when this happens the cursor freezes for
a second and IE pages are slow to load. Any ideas?
 
Your computer may be overheating. Open it up and clean all fans and vent
openings and make sure all fans are running.
