BE and FE database table linking

I have a database that has been split into a front and
backend. I have the backend on the server. The frontend
is on 10 computers. Not everyone accesses the database at
the same time. There may be 3 people working in the
database at the same time. Currently, it takes over 2
minutes to open the database from any one computer.
It takes about that long to go from one form to another.
Is there anything I can do to speed this up?
