BCM on Terminal Server

At the moment it isn't posible to install Outlook BCM on a Terminal Server.
This is because BCM relies on the Cache mode wich can't be enabled for users
on a TS system.
Users want to use BCM on a TS.

Actually, I have BCM running just fine on a Terminal Server. I have the main
BCM database installed on our file server. Our users in the office login on
our file server which hosts their roaming profiles. Before using the terminal
server, each user must login locally and set their exchange account to cached
mode. I then installed BCM on the terminal server just like I would a
regular workstation and pointed it to the BCM database on our file server.
Some users on the terminal server had to go under the file menu in Outlook
and go under Data File Management and add the BCM database. We've had it
working fine for 3 months now. Some of our office workers use BCM daily from
a thin client connected to our terminal server. We have 15 users accessing
the one database on the file server either through their office PC's or the
terminal server.

I have contacted Microsoft and they say that BCM can´t run in a Terminal
Server, and that they don´t
support any "workaround"

But i have some questions about your solutions:
I have the main BCM databse installed on my fileserver, no problem.
But i don´t understand this part:

Do you mean that evertime a user want to use BCM and Outlook the have to go
the the server, and there log
locally with their name and password ?

I am very greatful for your answer and tips.

Tom sorry for the slow reply. I don't get on here much. You just need to have
each user go into Outlook and turn on cached exchange mode from any PC. They
only need to do this one time. Then have them logout. Now have them login to
the terminal server. On the terminal server if the user looks, the cached
exchange mode box is grayed out but it will have a check mark in it. That's
all you need to make it work. Of course have Outlook with BCM installed on
the terminal server. It's been working great for us since January. You are
right. Microsoft won't support it but it will work.

I just want to clarify you are speaking of BCM 2007 and Win2003 TS?

you can edit the registry value to enable the check mark in "Use Exchange
Mode" on the terminal server.

The key to edit is

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging
Subsystem\Profiles\<ProfileName>\13dbb0c8aa05101a9bb000aa002fc45a]
00036601 (REG_BINARY)

Depending on what you are after, change the value to one of the following

enabled value; 84 01 00 00
enabled with Public Folders/Favorites: 84 05 00 00
disabled value; 04 00 00 00

I've just done this on BCM, Outlook 2007, Server 2003 Terminal Services.

BCM has a feature to use off-line caching if you're on the road, that's
obviously not going to work on Terminal Services, but it seems possible that
Microsoft have prevented users from using BCM without caching mode being
turned on, in case the user says yes they would like BCM offline caching
enabled, if they were to say that, the software wouldn't work. But, for using
in an on-line mode, it seems fine. To confirm, setting this registry key
works, it tricks BCM without actually enabling Outlook off-line caching which
may cause Terminal Server problems I guess.
