BCM..cannot complete last action...setting up offline DB

I thought I was an experienced BCM user until now. I recently removed the
offline DB from two laptops, now I am unable to create new offline DB's. I
keep getting the dreaded "cannot complete last action" right at the end of
the DB creation process. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried using a
different user name, checked all of the firewalls and firewall exceptions,
checked the port settings...I have compared everything I know to check
against other computers that are working fine offline with BCM.

I found other posts on the BCM blog but no solutions there either.

Help...frustrated. Love BCM...need it working again!

Can you get the deleted databases back? Did you just delete the files
through Windows Explorer? I can't tell you for sure that this is the
problem, but I've seen problems when the server doesn't know what happened
to its child db. It's sweet and touching that there's such a bond created
but I guess the master gets too confused.

It's a start...

I have them over on the desktop...I have tried copying them back into the BCM
folder, but it doesn't give you the option to "select" them. I really want
to create new offline DB anyway. The old one is "too" old at this point.

Two weeks ago I had the same problem on my laptop. I had removed the
offline and was unable to get a new one created. I tried everything.
Nothing worked. SOMEHOW, after creating a new user name it let me create
one. I have tried this on these two laptops with no luck.

Is their a registry key that is causing the problem?

Or a NET problem?

I need to get these back up "offline" they are sales people.

Thanks..rt

I have an odd issue that sounds a little familiar. I can't backup the BCM
database under 'manage database'. It backs up for a while and then errors
out. The last thing it was doing was compressing the backup file. But, the
error kills the entire deal and I can't get a backup?!?!?! Any help on that
one? ideas?

What error does it give you, Jim?
