Basic Remote Desktop behind firewall question

A

al

Need help understanding how Remote Desktop works when clients reside behind
a firewall (e.g. Cisco PIX 501). The network in question is peer-to-peer
and served by a dhcp server (192.168.x.x). How do I establish a connection
to a computer sitting behind that firewall with another system on a
different network also behind a firewall? How does NAT/PAT work in this
case?

Thanks!

You'll have to assign a static IP address to the host machine and then make
sure port 3389/tcp is open for that IP address. If you don't have a public
static IP then you'll have to make sure to use port forwarding on the
firewall.

Kind Regards,
