Basic question: Grids or no grids

How do you turn the cell borders off or on? That is, so you can have each
cell with a light border or no borders? thanks to all
 
I suppose you mean gridlines ?

Click Tools > Options > View tab
Uncheck "Gridlines" under Window options > OK
