Basic networking-Remote desktop

I have Windows XP Pro and my friend(not in my workgroup) has XP Pro. Can we
set up Remote Desktop with each other? Confused, I read hoe to set up remote
desktop but am lost,any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Jeff

If your calling over a local LAN use the private local LAN IP of the PC you
want to connect to. If your calling over the public internet you need to
forward/open TCP Port 3389 through any firewall/router the PC you want to
connect to is behind. Call using the public IP (as assigned by your ISP) of
the firewall/router or use a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). I use a
free service from No-IP.com so I can call my home LAN from anywhere using a
FQDN or alias if you will. Go to http://www.no-ip.com for details...
