Baseline Security Analyzer

I went under microsoft's website and downloaded Baseline
Secuity Analyzer 1.2 to scan my computer for possible
threats. (1) MSXML Security update says SP3 is out of
date. I currently have installed SP3 service pack for
windows XP and it flags stating I need SP4, but SP4 is for
Windows 2000 and not XP operating system. (2)Also, It says
that Windows security updates are out of date. MS03-
008, MS03-030, and MS03-051, but these are on my system.
(3) Also, It says that not all drives are using NTFS file
system (D: is using FAT32), what does this mean? Can
anyone answer these three questions please?

Thanks,
mike

Your post is very confusing. The only Service Pack available for
Windows XP is SP1. SP2 will not be available for a few more months,
and SP3 is a long way off. What exactly do you mean be saying
"installed SP3 service pack for Windows XP"?

First off I'd say that the Security Analyzer is wrong. It
may not be as current as you say your updates are. Hence
the first two reports in your system. Secondly, NTFS and
FAT32 are windows system "file formats" when installing
XP you are prompted to choose one. If you have installed
XP on a system with multille harddrives, or partitioned
drives, it is possible to have each one be different.
Most experts will agree that NTFS is more stable,
therefore if the case is more than one drive, I suggest
you acquire something like, Partition Magic, and use the
utilities to make them both the same. Hope this helps.

Do you know, in fact, what operating system you have on your computer? You
talk about having Windows XP but then mention service packs that appear to
be for Windows 2000. Which do you have?

First off,xp has its own conversion from FAT32 to ntfs, partition magic woul
be throwing youre money away.Second, thats is odd for SP3 or 4,XP is on SP1
however,i wouldnt take the analyzers results and get overwhelmed, its onl
an opinion, and for a fact, the analyzer has tech problems, its only been out a shor
time and wasnt even developed by microsoft.Still the SP versions it came up with ar
odd..

I am agree with previous messages. Analyzer seems to show what he wants. I tested it also and according to it there were many things out of date, but windows update can't find anything to update. I uninstalled and forget it
