The hosts file is located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc.
Go to
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm to download the latest host file, plus tools for editing, locking, unlocking and renaming the hosts file. It also explains how the hosts file works, and what it's for. There is also a cascade navigation menu at the top of the page for options...
