How do I stop the annoying pop-up when I plug in my USB memory stick?

I found a registry key for disabling balloon tips, but I'm not sure if
it will disable all of them, or even the ones you are talking about.
But, it's worth trying.

Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Name: EnableBalloonTips
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 (to disable the tips)
