I wonder. What is the ratio of people who realize that the copy they are
buying is pirated? While users that buy just the disc probably are fairly
cognizant of their complicity, there are probably a lot of users buying
assembled systems that are going to be pissed when it doesn't fully work.
On the other hand, the ability for these emerging (read "poor") markets to
use bootleg software allows them to become more productive, leading to
increased affluency. As other countries become more affluent, they will
pirate less, and they will no longer accept the low pay that drives
offshoring.
