Baffled by not being able to connect

We run Windows XP, and have currently two profiles. I
know that I had downloaded a program that came bundled
with a tidy package of horrible spyware, all the worst,
and I'm trying to clean up my computer because it's been
nothing but a pain since I was infected. I've downloaded
spyware/adware cleanup programs (which appear to be
completely useless) and manually doing some cleanup
myself. Anyhow, I have the normal issues: pop-ups,
resetting my start page, slowness, IE crashing, even
rundll32 problems, so that I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete, go
into processes, and close that down when I log on,
because otherwise my task bar won't work.

*Anyhow* the real problem is that now the other profile
on our computer won't load any web sites, nor will AOL
connect. I connect through a DSL connection from our
local ISP, and that stays connected, and through my
profile I can view and do anything. But the other profile
won't load pages. "This Page cannot be displayed". I
can't figure out why. IE and AOL work fine on my profile.
Even tried DLing Netscape, which did the same thing.

I'm just at a loss as to what could be causing this and
how to go about fixing it. Help!!

Hannah

P.S. - what is the best spyware/adware removal program? I
have something called SpyHunter, and it always finds
them, and says it deletes them, but then they're right
back there.
