BAD_POOL_HEADER 0x00000019 BSOD when try to send a fax

Whenever I try to send a fax, some time before the send completes I
get a STOP: 0x00000019 error, BAD_POOL_HEADER. This problem did not
occur the last time I tried to send a fax, a couple of months ago, and
I suspect that Norton Antivirus may be part of the problem, as
initially the Norton Internet Worm protection popped up about halfway
through sending the fax and seemed to think that the fax software was
a worm. After that, on subsequent sends, Norton was quiet but I still
got the BSOD. With the Norton program disabled, I was able to send one
fax -- and then got another BSOD. Any ideas?

A google search on this error was not particularly instructive, and
other than when I use the fax program, I have gotten very few BSODs
and never this one until today.

Thanks,
David

I have exactly the same problem! Did you find the solution? Some say
it's Norton GoBack! I've tried re-installing fax and this does not
help.

Have you ever renamed your fax machine? I did then returned it to the
original and was wondering whether this caused it.

Are you using a Dell machine? Perhaps its the fax modem driver?

Hi. Yes, I solved the problem by updating Norton GoBack to the latest
fix. This was non-trivial, as LiveUpdate would not detect that I had
GoBack installed. I got no help from Symantec. I eventually solved the
problem by 1) uninstalling Norton Systemworks and deleting all traces
of it from the registry and my hard drive (there’s a Symantec tech
note that explains what to do beyond just uninstalling), 2) Installing
only Norton Goback and LiveUpdate, 3) running LiveUpdate to update
GoBack, 4) installing the rest of Norton Systemworks, and 5) running
LiveUpdate again. If, however, all you have is Norton Goback, then run
LiveUpdate and update to version 4.02.309 of GoBack, the current
version. You can see what version you’re running either on the boot
screen for GoBack or running Advanced Disk Drive Restore and selecting
Help | About.

Hope this helps -
