BAD_POOL_CALLER

Greetings!

I've got one of those typical BAD_POOL_CALLER blue screens
on 3 new clone Pentium4 2.4 systems with hyperthreading
enabled. I've gone through knowledgebase, google, friends
in the industry etc with no real answers to my problem.

I get the BSOD only on boot attempts and it is VERY
intermittent. Happens in both cold and warm reboots. The
error in particular is a STOP 0x02 that points to a
possible bad driver(makes sense). However I get the same
BSOD even with a fresh XPsp1 install with NO 3rd party
drivers installed! I've enabled boot logging and when the
sys BSOD's it's always when attempting to load the
processor/HAL driver.

One item to note: Pentium4 hyperthreading enabled pc XP
see's it as a dual processor pc which according to MS is
normal. Even when I disabled the hyperthreading option via
the bios I still get the BSOD. I've also removed all
boards and extra hardware and still get the same BSOD.
Again, this problem is very intermitent.

Anyone have a clue on what's happening here?

I just *might* have the problem solved. The motherboard is
a Intel D865GBF with a rev P09 bios. I flashed it to the
latest P10 rev and the systems have not BSOD since. What
kills me is I have a system with P07 bios rev and that
system has never BSOD. After all these years in the
industry I really shouldn't be too surprised.
