bad windows image

recently i have been getting these error messages saying something along the
lines of yada yada.dll is not a valid windows image. please check
installation against diskette. I get this message before any program i open
up. it always says some dll that is related to the program i am using is a
bad windows image. Even when i installed and ran windows media player 10 it
said that. never noticed this before service pack 2.....but then again iv
never seen this type of behavior. any ideas?

I use win xp pro, i ran norton antivirus, spybot, and ad aware to see if it
would fix it but nothing.

It would help if we knew what "yada.dll" was. It may be a valid system file,
or it may be part of some less-than-honorable malware that is installed on
the system.

Well, I will do my best, but what I am saying is that it is going to be alot
of .dll files because this happens with every single program i have
installed. I tried using registry mechanic, no use. I tried disc defrag, no
use. I tried chkdsk, but that bad windows image thing would not allow me to
do it. I tried using norton disc doctor and that message prevented me from
using that program.....but if u wish to know my .dll files that it says are
bad i will post after this with that list.

You've got some kind of spyware - download SpyBot and scan.
