Backwards compatibility

I have FP 2000 and need to work on a site created with FP 2002. Opened up the
web (backup copy) in FP 2000 and find a lot of unlinked files. Used the XENU
program to check the site (site was last updated using FP 2000) and find only
5 broken links.

I am guessing that there is a compatibility issue but I may be wrong. Is
there any particular method to open up FP2002 webs in FP2000 and not result
with unlinked files?

As long as there is no FP 2002 function that has been added
, there should be no problems. It may be that the previous
author created a lot of stuff and never integrated the
pages into the navigation structure. You might find that
they have been marked Do Not Publish.

Unlinked files and broken links are two different things.

Broken links are links on pages where the destination file or folder does
not exist.

Unlinked pages are those pages that cannot be reached using text (or image)
hyperlinks from the home page.

If the Home page had *no* links on it (or if every link on the Home page
were Java Hover buttons or created with JavaScript), then *every* other page
in the web would be an unlinked page, but there may not be any broken links.

the compatibility issue is the new features introduced in FP 2002 won't be
available in FP 2000, especially those that use the FP extensions.

You can still use both for basic site editing.
