Backup

I am trying to backup my computer using the XP backup wizard but it does not
recognize my CDRW Drive and will "only" write to a floppy drive. I do not
have thousands of floppy's available. When I try to designate the CD drive
as a destination drive it tells me" Not a valid file name or don't have
permission" but I am the only user and the administrator and logged on as
such. Why won't it let me use the CDRW and how do I get it to let me?
Anyone??

If you had read just one of the several hundred posts on this subject,
you would have seen that it does not support writing directly to CD.
It pays to do a search of the user groups before posting - the answer
you want is usually already posted!

You can't write directly to CD's, but you can select another HDD or
partition instead of the floppy, backup to that, then copy the backup
file to CD - provided that the file is smaller than one CD's worth as
it doesn't support spanning. Sorry.

If you want to do a full system backup to CD when the backup exceeds
650 (or 700) MB, then get imaging backup software - eg Norton Ghost or
similar. Acronis is supposed to be pretty good too, but I haven't
tried it.
