Hi,
Can anyone help me? I have been doing a normal back up
once a month and a diffriental backup of the same
documets everyday. The problem is if something gets
deleted accidentally before the normal backup and then
the diffrental backup runs and i dont notice it until the
next day my data will be unabled to be recovered. I could
set the diffrental backups to not overwright the previous
days diffrental backup but this would take more disk
space which i simply do not have.
Could an incremetal backup solve the problem and save
disk space which a diffriental backup couldnt?

Hi,

Differential backup will take more space as it keeps backing up all the
modified data after the normal backup and does not reset the archive bit in
the files.

If you want to save on space, then it is better to go with Incremental
backup.

Incremental type backsup only the data that is modified and for all the
backed up data the archive bit is reset. Hence when you are again doing the
incremental backup the nextday, only the data that is modified during the
day will be backed up.

while you can use the same disks for the differential backup, you need
different media for each incremental backup. You can go for differential
backup, if you want to go for quick restore and you can go for Incremental
backup, if you want to go for quick backup.
