Backup error message

Running W2k Pro SP4. I have just run Backup for the first time and got an
error message:

"The fixed media is full. You cannot backup all of the specified data to
this disk device. The backup operation will stop"

The following message is in the backup report: " End of media encountered
while backing up to non-removable media"

I am attempting to do a NORMAL backup of drive C to drive E. My C and E
drives are both FAT32, 20Gb IDE drives. Drive C has about 5Gb of used
space. Drive E is empty at start of backup. When the backup stops, drive E
has about 4Gb of used space in a single file. Anyone have a clue as to why
the backup is complaining of lack of space?

Thanks

You have bumped up against a limit of the FAT32 file system. You need an
NFTS volume for what you wanna do.

Hi,
A backup in Fat 32 cannot be any larger than 4 gigabytes.
There are 2 solutions to the problem:

1. Convert the Partition to NTFS by ising the convert D: /fs: ntfs where D
is the
name of the drive that must be converted.

2. Do smaller backups, within the limitations as described above.
