Hello,

Our setup:
OS: windows 2000 server
Backup tape drive: IBM LTO Ultrium tape drive
Tape: 200GB LTO Ultrium
Software: windows 2000 backup

Our Need:
we have totally 6 backup tapes and we need to run
1. full backups on the 1st & 16th of every month.
2. full backups on the 1st SAT of every month and
incremental bkup on the following SATs
3.one fullbkup + daily incremental bkups

our problem:

Our earlier Server administrator used the ARC backup
software to backup files, and due to some bugs in the
software all the data wasnt being backed up. now that he
has left n our firm has decided to switch to windows 2000
backup we need to find solutions to :

1.how do i erase all the data stored in the tapes using MS
software and/or is this possible

2. how do i configure the media pools in the remote
storage manager so that these media names are recognised

3. how do i name these tapes

please help.

Your scheme doesn't make sense.
A full backup clears the archive bits, as does an incremental.

I believe you want to replace incremental with differential.

I would manually manage the media by using the /UM switch at the end of the
NTBackup command.

I don't believe you can erase the data.
