backup won't back up everything on computer

when I try to back up everything on my computer (on an
external harddrive) it stops about half-way through with
the message that the drive is full - which it isn't. Any
ideas?

Yes I would look at your swap page file... or local

system disk space.

I have had a simular problem and installed SP4 fixed mine.
