backup utility

does anyone know of any problems with the xp backup
utility? i installed it on a dell 4450 and it crashes
everytime i try to run it. i have it on 3 other computers
and have no problems. any sugestions? thanks

You could try reinstalling it from the ntbackup.msi file. Otherwise I
don't know of anything to suggest. Have you looked in the event viewer
for error messages? FWIW, ntbackup is a poor backup solution anyway. A
disc imaging program or other 3rd party traditional backup software
works much better.
 
I have the same problem. I have 4 systems running XP Pro SP2. Backup works
great on 3 systems - system 4 now crashes everytime I activate NTBackup. If
two of us have the problem, then 22 must have the problem too - I have read
that MSFT knows about this and has a hotfix for it. However, you must call
them - for fee - and they will send it to us. I would really appreciate
someone from MSFT pointing me to the answer.

If there is a hot fix, there is no cost for it. When you call just make
sure you mention nothing other than the specific Knowledge base article
number, say you have that problem and ask for the hot fix. Don't ask
any other questions. The fee is then waived.
