I bought a new PC with Windows XP Home pre-loaded. There
is no backup utility loaded by default, and I have no
Windows XP disks to load from, and it was pre-loaded. How
do I set up the backup utility without the disks?

Hi Joe,

If the computer you purchased is an OEM Edition (from Dell,Compaq etc), they
might not ship the Operating System CD. (only restore cds). You can download
ntbackup.msi from here:

I don't believe you can. You should always receieve a
disk with you loaded windows xp. If you did not receieve
a disk then you probably have an illelgal copy.

ted,

When ever the PC is delivered with XP pre-installed and no disk, it could
meen that the computer may have a special system restore partition. Several
large computer companies (ie.: Dell and HP) now do this.
