Backup Utility

I have read the comments regarding the backup utility not coming back when
you do a system restore. However I own a computer that came "pre-packaged".
A recovery disk from the manufacturer with all sorts of programs on it,
including Windows XP. I have browsed around on the recovery disk and don't
see an option to manually install the backup utility. Any suggestions as to
how to get this back on my computer after restore or where to look on my
restore disk for this?

If your system did not come with an actual XP installation CD, you can download
the file from here,

Installing the Backup Program on the Home Version

Direct download of ntbackup.msi.
http://home.comcast.net/~cerelli/ntbackup.msi

Windows backup is fine if all you're planning on backing up is selected files
and folders. Keep in mind that it will not backup directly to a CD.

If you're looking to backup your entire system, then you might want to consider
investing in an imaging program such as Acronis True Image or Norton Ghost.

Good luck
