backup utility

I have a new HP computer which came with windows XP pre-
installed. Some of the files and programs on my old
computer need to be backedup instead of copied to work
properly on the new computer. After much frustation, I
have learned that the backup utility in windows xp needs
to be installed from the CD which does not come with
preinstalled operating system. HP doesn't have XP disks.
I can't find a download on their site or MS site. Where
can I get the xp backup utility? I want the one that
comes with XP not a third party. Thanks.

Hi Andi,

If the computer you purchased is an OEM (from Dell,Compaq etc), they might
not ship the Operating System CD. (only restore cds). In that case, you can
download ntbackup.msi from here:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/software/ntbackup.msi
