Thanks for your help, Jim. Just to be sure, I wanted to
clarify that I am using XP, not NT. Also, when I copy
the .bkp file to CD-ROM, is multi-volume supported,
because I will need a few CDs for the entire set.

Ivan,

Is D:\ your CD-ROM drive?

If so, BackupNT does not support backing up directly to
CD-ROM drives.

Put .bkp file on your hard drive and then copy it to your
CD-ROM.

I would like to perform periodic full system
backups. I
have installed the Backup Utility. I have read the
publication Q320820. I would like to backup to CD
(probably multiple CDs). I am using Backup Utility
as
system administrator.

Using either the Backup Wizard or the Advanced Mode
under
Backup Wizard, I get the following message:

The backup file menu could not be used.
"D:\Backup.bkp"
Please ensure it is a valid path and that you have
sufficient access.

Please help. I am worried my system is starting to
get
buggy and I need to get everything fully backed
before I
address the other problems.

Many thanks,

IVAN

Windows XP's built-in CD burning utility does not span CD's. See the
following Microsoft Knowledge Base Article that says "Do not copy more
files to the CD-ROM than it can hold"

KB305600 - HOW TO: Create Multiple CD-ROMs from a Set of
Files in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Product=winxp&scid=kb;en-us;305600

A search of Google Groups Archives will show previous answers to the
question of what third-party utility to use to span CD-R(W)'s.
