Backup Utility does not like using CD...

This is probably something easy but when I try to do a
backup using the XP Backup Utility and select my CD drive
as output I get the following message:

The backup file name could not be used.
"D:\Backup.bkf"
Please ensure it is a valid path, and that you have
sufficient access.

I know I have access and that the device works. I can
drag folders, etc. to the CD drive via Windows Explorer
and can copy CD's, etc. I thought that I might have to
format the CD first but using Windows Explorer to move
files does not require that so I am confused why this does
not work. The Utility will work if I select my disk drive
as output but I don't have room for that...

HELP! Any help would be greatly appreciated...

You'll need to use a 3rd party utility for backup if you want to write
backups to CD. The built-in utility doesn't support it.

Thanks Paul. I just found that site via search on MSDN.
If you have a problem how would you use the CD backup (the
burned one) to restore? Will the Restore Utility read the
CD? If you have to load the file back to disk I don't see
where the backup would help with a system problem...

thanks
