Hi. Is there any way to boot to an external hard drive? I have backed up
my WinXP system to one but it does not show up in the 'boot sequence' in the
Bios...........Makes the backup useless if I can't boot to
it.........Thanks. Dingo

If the BIOS cannot see the device and offer it as a boot option, then
you need to boot something else - a floppy or CD - that has a basic
system (eg the DOS of a Win98 startup floppy) and the restore program
for the backup system. Eg I use BootIT NG; boot it from either floppy
or CD and use it to back up a partition to whatever medium (I use DVD-R,
but it could be USB 2.0 HD) and if necessary to restore - onto a
possibly new blank hard drive
