I have a CD burner that doesn't have the backup utility.
Can anyone recommend cheap reliable software that will
make this a simple task. Should I invest in expensive
soft, or in this arena, should I go for "top-of-the-
line. Thank you in advance for the information.

If you have a rescue disk the valueadded folder may be on
it or your XP Disk, Mine was on disk #2

Insert the XP or Rescue CD, and run NTBACKUP.MSI
program
from the folder D:\valueadd\msft\ntbackup

You can get a copy here;

In XP Home the ASR Floppy Disk does not work . It will
NOT
backup to a CD. You can back up to a folder on your
hard drive then burn it to a CD. The native program in XP
will not span CD's though.

Here is how to use it;

Windows Backup Does Not Back Up to CD-R, CD-RW, or DVD-R

You can cheat it with a packet writing program like Roxio
Direct CD (comes with Easy CD Creator ) Or Nero
InCD or DLA You then use a CD ( will not Span cd's) or
DVD's (4.7+ gb) to back up too.
