Backup Selected Files Only?

Is there a means to backup only selected files on Vista similar to Windows
Backup in WinXP?

The File Backup tool in Vista doesn't offer this ability. See

Jill,

Thanks for responding. I've resorted to a file backup of "documents" even
those this really backs up a whole lot of stuff I don't really need backed
up. Luckily it looks like this "tool" uses a differential backup so the
backup time is very acceptable.

How do I tell the tool to backup my SQL .bak files and vpc .vmc and .vhd
files?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

vhd is "compressed files"
vmc is "additional files"

bak is excluded, but you can add them to a .zip file and use the Compressed
Files choice.

Another quick question. Can the "Complete PC Backup" be scheduled or just
the "Back Up Files"?

Yes, it can be scheduled using wbadmin.exe and Task Scheduler. I'm working
on a blog post on how to do this, but it's pretty easy to figure out on your
own so give it a try

Here are my Scheduled Task command line(s):


Program/script:
C:\Windows\System32\wbadmin.exe

AddArguments (optional):
start backup -backupTarget:r: -include:c: -quiet

You might want to cover how to get the Automatic File Backup to use a custom
schedule. I've modified the Scheduler job for this and we'll see if it runs
but I noticed that once I did this the Backup Status and Configuration UI
shows that Automatic File Backup is not configured. (Go Figure!)
