Backup s/w to backup changed files on C: & D: ?

Fred Finisterre

Hi,

Looking for reccommendations for backup software (XP Pro).

I currently use Dantz Retrospect 5.6 but I don't really like it.

I want some software that'll backup my C: & D: drives (not as a drive image,
'cos I like to be able to get back singles files easily). I don't want to
FULL and then INCREMENTAL backups per se, just to do a full backup to start
with, and then once a week a backup that only backs up new and changed
files. The sort of thing ROBOCOPY would do, but with a nice interface.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Fred.

What you want to do is called a "differential backup" and any decent backup
software will do it. So will Xcopy and xxcopy.

Hi Fred,
You can take a look at Backup4all too,
http://www.backup4all.com/differential_backup.php . As John said, any decent
backup software should allow differential backup, so you have a lot of
applications from where to choose. The problem is that you have to test them
until you find the one that meets your needs, so this could take a while.
