Backup Software

A few months ago, I tested over 2-3 dozen cheaper backup software
programs found online, most in the free to $40 range. Most had bugs
and the rest other problems. Worse, most worked exclusively with time-
triggered backups. Very few were capable of reliable real time
backups!!

Here's the list of delinquent backup software (alphabetical):

* Automatic Folder Backup - nothing auto about it
* Auto Backup Pro - bugs (runtime error)
* Backup4All Pro - No Can Do
* BackupEngine 8 - Won't run on XP or bugs; take ur pick
* BackupNowDeluxe - Won't run on XP or bugs; take ur pick
* BackupOnDemand - worked for a while and quit unexpectedly
* BackupVision - Allows MANUAL backups only!!!!!
* Datzent83 - monthly fees
* DeltaCopy - delta crappy, bugs, antiquated
* EMC Retrospect Express - daily saves = express?
* Filehamster - does not mirror; see details below
* Filehamster Plus - does not mirror
* FileReplicationPro - $500!! Stopper right there!
* Gendalf Backupper Agent - antiquated, user unfriendly
* GoogleChrome Backup - requires GoogleChrome (wt?)
* Keepsafe - looks promising, BUT no free full trial (gamble)
* Insofta Document Backup - makes bogus claims
* Llama Carbon Copy - empty doorstop didn't do a thing
* Migosoft / Migo PC Backup - had bugs, nasty
* Modified File Bkup - no XP version = leave alone
* Mozy Modified - monthly fee, no trial = don't touch!
* Novosoft OfficeBackup - antiquated, user-unfriendly
* Paragon Drive Backup - entire drive copy only!
* RDrive Image - image cloning
* RealTimeBackup - complete scam - scheduled backups only,
laborous removal
* Second Backup - XP incompatible and/or bugs
* Simple Backup Tool - timed backups only
* Storactive's LiveBackup - no trial (lo-odds u-gamble stwr)
* Sync Backup Pro - no go
* Taskzip - broken link - untestable
* Two Bright Sparks Autobackup - no go.
* Yadis - free and worth every penny; yeah dis .. sucks

Absolute Backup Monitor - was about the only software that actually
worked without too many issues.

IBM CDP (Continuous Data Protection)
Anyone try this?

Only because of your stupid requirements.
Worse, most worked exclusively with time-triggered backups.

Because that is what most want.
Very few were capable of reliable real time backups!!

Because anyone with a clue uses mirroring when they want that.

No it's because that's what the man in the moon most wants.
Because anyone with a clue uses mirroring when they want that.
No because anyone with hard drive should have software that makes real
time backup.
Nope, no one has.
Yes, someone referred it to me.
Four for four senior, good score.

I use this free version of VersionBackup 4.1.3.0. They now only make payware.
Mozy has 2 gigs online backup free.

If I get around to it I'll test these too. Thanks.

You're lying, as always.
No it's because that's what the man in the moon most wants.

Never ever could bullshit and lie its way out of a wet paper bag.
No because anyone with hard drive should have software that makes real time backup.

Hardly anyone is stupid enough to want that.
Yes, someone referred it to me.

That was a joke, fool.

Just filter Rod Speed out. The newsgroup is very enjoyable then. You
won't see his posts until someone answers them.
Lol, let's test out your theory with this post.

Steve, sorry about the hecklers, but reading your posts is quite tiring.

You seem to have defined something called "real time backup" and are
reporting to us at great length that no one on Earth actually makes such
a product for desktop PCs.

Tell you what: stop telling us ad infinitum which back up products do
NOT meet your needs, and get back to us when you find one that does.

But if he did that, he could have to handle tons of suggestions to use
many of the apps that he was listing.

Ed, obviously Doug is just another attention seeking troll. Best take
your own advice about Rod and plonk him. Maybe I should too.

Sorry, get more rest.

Newsflash, that's what it's called.
and are
reporting to us at great length that no one on Earth actually makes such

At least a couple dozen do as listed above .. but then I expect
readers be awake .. evidently too much for some.

I've tested BACKUP software. Three guesses what I want from them? And
where's the ad infinitum? You didn't even read the one list I
provided! You think one=infinitum, no wonder you're tired!
and get back to us when you find one that does.
Ok heckler. Scroll up after your beauty rest. Is this rod speed?
