BACKUP: Removable Storage Mgmnt Upgrade/FIX

Does anybody know (Microsoft included) what plans MS has
to either upgrade or FIX Windows XP Prof.REMOVABLE STORAGE
MANAGEMENT so that one can run BACKUP using a CD-RW or
CD-R (Recordable)?

Any other suggestions or alternatives? or

Any other Backup programs available?
