Backup program -- sophisticated -- needed

I have no idea whether anything like what I want actually exists.

Right now, I'm using Outlook Express Freebie Backup to back up my OE
settings, etc. I'm using Cobian Backup for everything else.

Is there a backup program that will do both tasks? OEFreebie Backup backs
up all sorts of things -- registry settings, etc. -- so it's really nice. I
don't know of anything else that does this, along with backing up any other
indicated folders.

Thanks.

OE Freebie backup????

As to your Q, this one looks quite promising (posted earlier by Tramp);

"The File-Mirror Tool is a small and useful tool which "mirrors" the content
of specified directories to other ones.

This can be very useful if you have two harddrives and want to back up your
data regularly. Neither you need an expencive RAID-Controller which mirrors
the whole harddisk (and also all directories, you can't specify it) nor you
need to copy the directories by hand (and maybe forget it).

With the File-Mirror Tool you can keep your data backed up and safe. "

Just for remembering : ms backup on any windows installdisk
as add-on. at least it's free... not bad, in my opinion, can save
on tape, etc.

I have Outlook, not Outlook Express, - and I usually backup the
outlook.pst file. It contains all the calendar events, contacts, notes.
So, when I upgraded to WinXP on my PC recently, all I did was to bring
back the old outlook.pst file - all was there. Granted, I needed to
reset Outlook preferences and setting manually, but that's hardly a
problem, I think. Would that work for you?
You can use then the Cobian Backup for that as well.

Yes, it's a nice program, you can google for it. It lets you select a
backup destination, and it backs up everything necessary to restore a
complete OE installation.

The problem, of course, is that OE doesn't keep all its data in the same
place, as far as I know. Settings, registry entries, etc., all across the
hard disk.

Thanks.

Just include the rbxxx.cab files in c:\windows\sysbackup in with your
Cobian backup routine. All your registry settings would be backed up
along with whatever data you want to backup.

Thanks -- good hint. I appreciate it.
