Can anyone please help me re backup options. I have installed a USB backup
drive to one of my machines and I would like to do daily backups to this
drive from both the machine it is connected to and another on a network.
This includes outlook files etc and would like this to happen even if the
files are open if possible and without slowing the machines down too much
although my machines are pretty fast and uptodate.
Can anyone offer any advice please? I have tried NTbackup but that slows
the whole machine down, WinBackup seems ok but has problems with opened files
seems to backup full folders rather than individual files re Outlook and
Almer is hard to see what is going on as it does it all in the background.
My total backup is about 20GB,
Thanks in advance

Look at Second Copy from www.centered.com. I've used it for years for lots
of my clients and highly recommend it. I believe the newest version can
back up files in use, although I don't think that's good practice. Better
to schedule the backups first thing in the morning and at some time late at
night or in the evening when the files are not open.

I wouldnt reccommend backing up OL data files, if they are in use, even if
possible, as this could lead to corruption of the OL data file.
You cannot backup individual items within the OL data file, with backup
software,only the whole pst.
Though maybe possible with specialist third party OL backup tools.
Take a look at the MS free OL backup addin - on MS OL site -
