backup of win xp home edition

not having backup on default have installed from xp
cd,but when i follow the wizard it all goes well until i
click save to CDRW then a message comes up stating this
is not a valid path.
also tried advanced mode and copied to HD and then from
HD to CDRW that works but then i don't get a startup disk
for A:\.

any ideas

What exactly are you trying to do? If you are trying to use a CD for a backup/start up disk - you will need to use a 3rd party program - such as Nero:

....just a thought - are you trying to use Automatic System Recovery - if so it doesn't work with XP Home Edition. Have a look at the 'readme.txt' file on the XP HE CD in the same folder as 'ntbackup.msi'.
