Backup limited to 4Gig

I'm using Windows XP to backup my data to an external hard drive. All went
well until the data reached the 4Gig point at which time the backup operation
was terminated and a dialogue box said I couldn't backup more than 4 G if
information. My ext. HD has over 24 Gig of free space so that's not the
issue. I have been unable to find any reason for or solution to this problem.
Thanks for any help.

If the external hard drive is formatted as FAT32, this file format has a
file size limit of 4GB. You need to convert it to NTFS.
