backing up outlook 2000

[need outlook help]

i want to back up outlook (all messages, contacts, etc) for
20 users onto tape on a regular basis. there's a
possibility that during backup, several users may have
outlook open. what is the best way to back up the outlook
contents considering that the program may be in use? is it
possible to set up autoarchiving such that the archive.pst
files include all of the outlook contents including
messages, contacts, address book, etc?

All data is contained in *.pst files, assuming not on exchange.
I believe backup software cannot operate on a file that is in use, assuming
you are unable to backup overnight. however some backup software, I believe,
has the ability to 'try again'
You could also use the MS backup addin, and backup the backup, to tape
