Backing up network drives with Vista

I assume that in the Vista backup application that it is not possible to
backup network shared drives for the same reason you can not back up onto
them. This is a big negative for me since I used XP's application so much to
backup a large number of company network drives. Is this the case?

thank you

You can backup to Network Drives.

Open regedit

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa

Change LmCompatibilityLevel to 2

I had this issue and by doing this I can now backup to my NAS

I am able to backup mapped network drives as long as I am connected to those
drives using accounts with the same name as my login in Vista. If I log
into the mapped drives using a different login name, Vista won't show them
in the folder browser dialog.

Once added to the backup list, Cobian (or Windows) extracts the UNC out of
the mapped path and it is stored in the job file as a UNC instead of a
mapped drive. It may be possible to manually add UNCs to the job database
but I have never tried.

In any case, Cobian 7 will backup network drives as long as you map a drive
to it.

Just for info, I also tried the Windows Live OneCare backup. It, along with
Vista backup, will not backup network locations including mapped drives.
