Backing up is hard to do...

The backup utility in windows seems awkward. So, I'm backing up my XP C:
drive to a high capacity Iomega USB drive. This way I'm confident that I have
all I need to recover 100% from any type of failure. I have two problems -
will this do the job, and just what would be the recovery procedure?

Reading through this..

... you will see that full system backups are outside of the scope of
Windows Backup.. you will also find out what kind of backups are possible..

For full system backup, consider something like this..

I have been using Acronis True Image with an external USB drive for
2-1/2 years. It works great! I have been able to recover individual
files or a whole drive as needed.
