Backing up files in Windows XP Professional

I am trying to back up my files to a second drive but am getting the error
message:

Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy: 80042301
Aborting backup.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

I'm not sure what caused it but a Google search turns up many possibilities.

The most likely appears to be you are trying to use shadow copy with a FAT32
volume.
