Backing Up All of Outlook 2003

Sherisse

Need to reinstall OS Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition and want to backup
all of Outlook 2003 so that I can restore it when done reinstalling OS. I am
using email and contacts so far. Emails have attachments. How can I most
easily do backup and restore Outlook data with the attachments?

Thanks

In Outlook, go to file, data file management. Select your account and click
the Show folders button. This opens windows explorer to the location of
your pst. Close outlook and copy the pst. That backs up everything you see
when you look in your pst - mail, calendar, contacts, attachments that are
on message.

See http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.asp for more information.

Just copy the pst file with Outlook closed.
Info here:
How to backup and restore Outlook

http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm

There is out-dated information on some of these pages, specifically with
regard to Outlook 2003 and 2007.

The main points to note:
1. Do NOT use the import/export function to move Outlook data from one
version to another - mall you need to do is to copy the pst file, with
Outlook closed.

2. Do NOT paste the copied pst file into the default location - paste into
(for example) your Documents folder and then do File-Open-Outlook Data File
within Outlook.
