BACKGROUND: template graphic - how to remove elements

in particlar a footer, which is getting in the way of my own footer. How do
I remove a footer that's embedded as a graphic?
 
How is the graphic inserted? Is it inserted as a background through Format >
Background or through Slide Master? Click View > Master > Slide Master.
Click on the graphic . If it cannot be selected, then you will probably need
to remove it through graphic editing software such as photoshop.
