I'm using Office 2003 and have made template with a filled (grey) rectangle
as the background. In normal view (editing), the page takes about 2 seconds
(!)to display. You can literally see the rectangle being drawn (on an AMD
3500+, 2GB RAM and nVidia GeForce 6800GT :-)

In Slide Show it displays like it should (instantly :-)

I just don't get it, why does it take so long in edit mode? Sometimes it
actually draws it twice...

If I use one of the standard templates (like Compass), I don't have this
problem... Is it just that Powerpoint doesn't like filled rectangles as
backgrounds? Just pictures??

What am I doing wrong here??

Hmm, I don't feel like lowering the hw acc for all programs :-)

I tried using the fill and that did speed up things! No why would it be
slower to draw a grey rectangle than a grey (rectangle) background?

Thanks for the tip!

Hardware acceleration can always be adjusted back upward. It's worth trying
unless you know a reason why not. Display problems are frequently resolved by
lowering it.
