From the anti-virus sites it seems like a harmless
problem, but on my computer it is also not letting me
execute 99% of my EXEs.
The removal instructions state to use antivirus to remove
the infected files and regedit to remove a key, but both
the antivirus program and the regedit.exe cannot be open.
This is the third time this has happened this month, and
the past two times I've had to reinstall XP.

Using Symantec Norton Antivirus
XP pro
Intel P3 866Mhz
512mb ram

Hi,

Go to ftp://12.107.147.141/regfiles and copy exe_fix.reg to your desktop
(just drag and drop). Double click it, allow it to merge with your registry.
It should reset the defaults for the .exe file association.
