I CAN NOT USE THE BACK UP WIZARD TO DO A BACKUP

FIRST I GOT THIS MESSAGE

“Removable storage devises not running the backup utility.
Cannot connect to the removable storage service.
The service is required for using of tape drives and other backup devices.
Please exit and start removable storage service using the system service
function of the management systemâ€

SO I WENT INTO THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND SET REMOVABLE STORAGE TO RUNNING.

THIS SSEAMED TO REMOVE THIS PROBLEM

BUT WHEN I FOLLOW THE STEPS TO USE THE WIZARD, I GET THIS MESSAGE

“Backup wizard

Type in name of fileâ€

When I do it a window appears and it states the following

“The backup file name could not be used.â€d:\backup.bkfâ€
Please insure a valid path and that you have sufficient accessâ€

I have no idea what to do next. No matter what name I type in the same
message appears.

NEED SOME HELP HERE.

Presumably you are trying to backup directly to a CDR. The backup utility
included with XP will NOT backup directly to a CDR. That's what the error
messages told you, if you had looked at them properly. The solution is to
make the backup to your HDD and then copy the backup file to the CDR.

i'm not a fan of msbackup
utility. it is my experience
that it is unreliable.

you might want to use
a different method like
disk imaging.

unlike msbackup that
is designed to compress
everything into one big
file; disk images make
separate files that can
be individually transferred
to cd's.

if you do not have one, you
really should acquire a cdrw
of dvdrw as an external storage
for backups and or other fun
things like making music cd's, etc..

i use "driveimage xml" and included
it into "bartspe" by adding
the "driveimage xml plug-in".

however, others can/will
provide their favorite and
proven successes with restoring
as well..

If you read the OP's post it's fairly clear that he DOES have one.......
