Back up

I gather you have XP HE. NT Backup is not installed by
default in your accessories\system tools so you have to go
into your disk to get it. Put your XP HE disk in the drive
or your recovery disk and then when the autoplay comes up
click "perform additional tasks" and then click "explore
the disk" and look for the following folder.
valueadd\msft\ntbackup. You will see an icon that looks
like a couple of little computers.Double click it and NT
Backup will be installed under start\all
programs\accessories\sytem tools. Then once you have this
superior backup to system restore turn off the unreliable
system restore and save CPU time and resources. Good luck.

Backup is not "superior to system restore." It's an entirely
different thing with different objectives. Neither replaces the
other.

Terrible advice. System Restore is a very useful feature, one
that has gotten me and many others out of trouble many times. It
would be very foolish to turn it off.
