I have to back up my Sistem prior to instal a Windows update.
It seems that Back UP is disable in my Computer, I go to
Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools, and is not there, only System
Restore.
How can I make the Back up System to work?.
Thank you very much

Hi Don

If you are running XP Home.

The backup utility isn't installed by default with XP Home Edition.
Depending on what kind of XP CD you have, the backup utility may be found in
the valueadd\msft\ntbackup folder on the XP Home CD.

Sorry - I addressed my last posting to the wrong person - but the message
still stands.

It is really more satisfactory to use a third party piece of software to
carry out a system backup. XP Backup has a lot of limitations which you will
find. I use Acronis True Image which I find very easy to use

Backup is not installed in Home. If you have a retail CD you will find
it there, in ValueAdded\MSFT\Backup - r-click the .msi file and take
Install.

It is rarely included in OEM systems that come with a machine.

It is in any case a tape oriented backup - you can't use it with CDs
other than with third party 'packet writing' software, and then will not
'span' to a second one. It was included in Pro I think just for the
benefit of those bringing tape systems forward from NT
