Back end database on Internet

I believe that even with a split database and Access Runtime, that it is not
possible to access the shared Accsss back end database over the Internet
(i.e., even with the specific IP address available). In other words, the
back end Access database must be on some type of local and mapped server. Is
that correct? Or, is there a means for remote users to use the front end
Access data base to access the back end file via the Internet? Sort of like
Google docs for Access.

That is indeed not possible.
The most obvious solution is to use an RDP session into some server.
