Avoiding others to save with same file name

I have made a Powerpoint file that I want others at work to use as a base for
their presentations. They are allowed to edit it, but I do not want them to
be able to save the presentation with the same file name, because then others
won't be able to use it as a base. I thought there was a way to protect the
PPT file so that "SAVE" doesn't work, but "SAVE AS" works, but I can't find
it. Help appreciated.

Office button/Save As/Tools/General Options/ Read Only then click on Save

In PPT 2007, there's a "mark as final" option. This makes the file Read Only
and turns off editing options as well as the "save" button.

Your users would need to turn off Mark as Final (Office Button | Prepare |
Mark as Final) and then Save As using their own file name. Or you could
encourage them to Save As using their own file name and then turn off Mark
as Final -- but they're not forced to do it in that order or anything.

Another option would be to save it as a PowerPoint Template
(extension .pot). Go to "Save as," and then select "PowerPoint
Template" from the type. That way, whenever someone double clicks on
the template, they'll find themselves in a new document that they will
then be prompted to save themselves.
